South-East Governors on Monday in Enugu received the corpse of former Vice President, Alex Ekwueme who died in London.
Various programmes have been lined up in Enugu as part of Ekwueme’s final journey to mother earth.
The aircraft conveying the remains of the deceased touched down at about 2.pm on Monday at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport Enugu and was received by South-East Governors and members of his family
Among those at the airport to receive Ekwueme’s remains were Pastor Goodheart Ekwueme, his first son, the Chairman of South-East Governors Forum, Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State and Governors, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu) and Rochas Okorocha (Imo).
After a brief reception for the deceased at the airport, his body was moved in a motorcade to his Enugu residence at 11/13 Ezikwo Street, where it was lying in state as at the time this report was filed around 4.pm.
