John Odigie Oyegun, the National Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) on Saturday at Udi town, Enugu State, said Ndigbo could realize their dream for presidency if they join the ruling party.
Oyegun stated this while receiving former Enugu State Governor, Sullivan Chime into the APC during the party’s Registration and Awareness Rally at Community Secondary School, Udi/Abia, Udi LGA Enugu State.
The APC helmsman noted that South-East has contributed so much to the growth of the country and without the zone, the country cannot stand.
Oyegun said since they won the last election, their plan was to make the South-East return to the mainstream and now the final building blocks have been laid with the entry of Chime into APC.
“The country was built on a tripod and without one of them, two cannot stand. If you want to become President, which party can do that? It is APC. As South-East you are entitled to reward of participation in the growth of the country. How you can do that is to be in APC” he said.
Oyegun expressed satisfaction with the surge of top politicians into APC in Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo States.
He said APC was celebrating the entrance of Chime, a man of vision, a performer and a man of timbre and caliber.
He said future has seen the future and the damage the past regime did to the economy of the country, adding that it calls for celebration when a man of vision wants to join you in times of trouble.
“I welcome you. You are not joining because EFCC is after you. You are living in Enugu because people accept you. Great things are going to happen in this state. We are producing 4,500 megawatts of electricity daily now. Enugu, based on the coal industry will give us 1000 megawatts. It is only the beginning. With Sullivan Chime, you are represented” Oyegun said.
Also speaking, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal, Sokoto State Governor, recalled that the South-East and the North worked together in the past and now men of goodwill are working together to ensure that the country remains together.
Tambuwal said APC means business with the people of the South-East and wants
to work with them to ensure a better Nigeria.
Other APC stalwarts that witnessed Chime’s entrance into the party include Osita Okechukwu, the Director General of Voice of Nigeria (VON), George Muoghalu, the National Auditor, Osita Izunaso, National Organising Secretary, Emma Eneukwu, the National Vice Chairman for South-East, Peter Okonkwo, Okey Ezea, Bala Mohammed Gwagwalada, the National Treasurer and the State Chairmen from South-East states.
