Enugu State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday suspended its Deputy Chairman, Mr. Adolphus Ude for alleged involvement in misconduct and anti-party activities.
Ude’s suspension was announced at a press conference after the party’s State Executive Committee (SEC) meeting at the APC Secretariat in Enugu.
The meeting also passed a vote of confidence on the State Chairman, Dr Ben Nwoye.
Briefing journalists after the SEC meeting, Nwoye said the Deputy Chairman stands expelled from the party based on the report of the Fact-finding/Disciplinary Committee set up to investigate the allegation against him.
According to Nwoye, the State Executive Committee condemned in its entirety, thye barbaric, criminal and anti-party activities of undesirable elements in the party for having invaded the party office n Monday, July 3, 2017, and announced the removal of the State party chairman in a coup detat fashion and carted away vital documents including financial records.
He said the SEC resolved to set up a Disciplinary Committee to recommend appropriate sanctions to be meted out to the individuals involved in accordance with the party constitution.
“The State Executive Committee by a dependable source found out that the virus in the party was introduced and nutured by Barrister Mrs. Juliet Ibekaku (Senior Special Assistant to the President attached to the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation).
“That the State Executive Committee hereby condemns the attitude of Mrs. Ibekaku in the party by funding the destabilization of the party structure to suite her selfish political aspirations” Nwoye said.
He said the SEC resolved that none of its members is answerable to the office of the Secretary to the Federal Government of the Federation (SGF) or any other government appointees.
Nwoye made it clear that Enugu APC is peaceful and remains united.
He disclosed that 49 out of 67 members of SEC and 10 out of 15 members of the State Working Committee attended the meeting.
He said the party has resolved to give unalloyed support to the Government of His Excellency President Muhammadu Buhari and the National Leadership of the party led by His Excellency Odigie-Oyegun, the National Chairman of APC.
He added that the SEC has resolved to welcome all progressive minded people into its fold now and thereafter.
