All the candidates of All Progressives Congress (APC) for the November 4 local government elections in Enugu State will today at Oji River LGA Enugu State receive the blessings of the party’s National Chairman, Chief John Odigie Oyegun.
Oyegun would be at Oji River for the grand finale APC campaign rally in Enugu State.
The Enugu State chairman of APC, Dr Ben Nwoye, who made this disclosure at Enugu East LGA campaign rally, said the National Chairman would use the opportunity to publicly give his blessings to the Enugu State chapter of APC as it prepares to confront the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the ruling party in the State on November 4.
Nwoye urged the people of Enugu East to use the opportunity of the council polls to liberate themselves from the monarchical system of government foisted on them by one family in the past 36 years.
“One family has been calling the shots. Now, APC has brought change. Before now, you people had no choice. Now, you have the opportunity of liberating yourself from a local government controlled by one family and enthroning democracy in the council” Nwoye said.
The Nnaji family produced Senator Gilbert Nnaji, the senator representing Enugu East senatorial district, who earlier served two tenures each as the council chairman and member House of Representatives.
His younger brother, Cornelius Nnaji is the current caretaker committee chairman of the council after serving as two term council chairman.
Also speaking, George Nnamani, the chairmanship candidate of APC in Enugu East assured the people that genuine change has come, saying that change is not just sharing rice, but ensuring that the people were provided with basic infrastructure and social amenities.
